Capt. Noah Sterling Dies at Naxera
Noah Franklin Sterling, 72, prominent seafood producer and dealer, died Tuesday, October 12, at his home at Naxera.
Funeral services will be held from the Severn Presbyterian church, Thursday at 3 p.m. and will be conducted by Rev. S. O. Coxe, assisted by Dr. E. T. Wellford. Interment will be in the family cemetery on the Severn River.
Captain Sterling is survived by his widow, Mrs. Ruth Hall Sterling; eight daughters, Mrs. B. C. Clements, Mrs. R. P. Edwards, Mrs. H. R. Gwyn, and Miss Margaret Sterling, all of Gloucester county, and Mrs. R. B. Hillers, Mrs. A. C. Leueckert, and Mrs. J. R. Hudgins of Norfolk, and Mrs. William S. Selden, of Philadelphia; nine sons, N. F. Sterling, Jr., R. H., J. C., J. E., B. H., H. H., C. C., and B. E. Sterling, all of Gloucester county, and G. C. Sterling, who is with the armed forces overseas. Captain Sterling has 36 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Survivng also, are two sisters, Mrs. J. C. Deal, and Mrs. Lloyd Clements, of Gloucester county and six brothers, R. H., S. E., W. P., and J. A. Sterling of Gloucester county; G. W. Sterling of Washington, and T. J. Sterling, of Norfolk.
Captain Sterling was the son of the late George W. Sterling, Sr., and Mrs. Ellen Deal Sterling.
Active pallbearers will be: R. B. Hillers, A. C. Leueckert, R. P. Edwards, B. C. Clements, J. R. Hudgins, and H. F. Gwyn.
