Williamson-Deines

Of interest to the people of Ansley is the account of the marriage of Willis Deines, instructor in the Ansley high school and assistant athletic coach. The following account of the wedding appeared in the Lincoln Journal.

"Miss Helen May Williamson, daughter of Mrs. Agnes L. Williamson, of Clay Center, became the bride of Willis Robert Deines, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Deines, also of Clay Center, on July 28. Rev. G. R. Birch read the service at the home of the bride's mother in the presence of fifty guests. The background was formed by a fern-covered lattice with baskets of pink and white gladioli on either side. Tall white tapers in candelabra provided the illumination for the ceremony. Miss Lois Williamson, sister of the bride, played the wedding march. The bride, who was given in marriage by her uncle, William R. Fry, wore a floor-length dress of aquamarine organza over matching taffeta and carried a bauquet (sic) of pink roses and sweetpeas. Miss Erma Louise Deines, cousin of the bridegroom, who served as maid of honor, wore a frock of lavendar (sic) organza over matching taffeta, and her flowers were pink roses. The bridegroom was attended by his cousin, Norval Deines. A reception followed the ceremony. Mrs. Gladys Brown, the bride's aunt, and Mrs. Della Smith, sister of the bridegroom, served. The Misses Lucille Fry, and Roxanna Brown, cousins of the bride, were in charge of the guest book and gift room.

"Mr. and Mrs. Deines left for a short trip and after September 1 will be at home in Ansley. The bride graduated in June from Lincoln high school and Mr. Deines graduated last year from the university of Nebraska."
