Alvina Schroeder Deines, a pioneer resident of Clay Center since 1880, passed away at the Good Samaritan Villa Grace in Hastings on June 24, 1970 at the age of 91 years, 6 months and 27 days.
A native of Germany, she came to Clay county (sic) with her parents at the age of two. She and her late husband, William, lived in Clay Center.
She was a member of the Union Church, American Legion Auxilliary (sic) and the U Go I Go Club. She was active in the Women's Fellowship of her church until her health started failing her several years ago.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. H.J. Hoyt of Clay Center, Mrs. O.W. Northrop of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mrs. John Harrell of El Segundo, Calif.; three sons, Roland of Clay Center, Harold of Minneapolis, Minn., and Willis of Harlingen, Tex., 13 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Bertha Trout of Holdrege; and two brothers, Carl of Santa Monica, Calif., ad Ben of Inglewood, Calif., and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Alvina Deines were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 27 from the McLaughlin Funeral Chapel in Clay Center, the Rev. Don Hurkum officiating. Pallbearers were Brunette Deines, Jack Northrop, William Hoyt, Royce Deines, Max Northrop and Lowell Hoyt. Burial was in Clay Center Cemetery.
