69, of the Black Creek community, died January 10, 1998, at the East Tennessee Baptist Hospital in Knoxville. Born in Scott County, Tenn., February 1, 1928, he was the son of the late Silas and Alma Ellis West. In addition to his parents, he was preceded also in death by two sons, Ronald Kent "Ronnie", and Gerald Keith "Jerry" West; one sister, Cleta Jones; and four brothers: James Coleman, Silas Arthur, A. D., and Robert Lee West. He was a member of the Black Creek Baptist Church. He was an employee of the Scott County Road Department for over 11 years prior to his retirement, and was a member of the Robbins Lodge #670 F & A.M., where is served for many years. He is survived by his wife, Rosie West of the Black Creek community; two sons: Ricky Lee West and wife of Marion, Ind., and Duane Ray and wife, Katina Marie (Mills) Ray of the Black Creek community; one daughter, Linda Sue Riggs and husband, Gary of Greenfield, Ind.; one sister, Pauline Jones of the Black Creek community; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and many other relatives. Masonic Last Rite service was conducted January 12, 1998. Funeral services were conducted January 12, 1998, at Black Creek Baptist Church with Reverends John Stephens and Dennis Jones officiating. The Black Creek Baptist Church Choir and Andrea Stephens sang. Interment followed in the Black Creek Cross Roads Cemetery. Four Oak Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
