John H. Gibson, a resident of 1715 Walnut Street, died yesterday morning following an extended illness. Mr. Gibson was a native of Bamberg, SC, coming here 14 months ago from Bamberg. He was employed as a pipefitter at the Merrill Stevens Shipyard.
He was a Baptist. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Effie Edna Gibson; four daughters, Mary Gibson of Baxley, GA, Lucille and Clara Gibson and Mrs. Sara Saunders, all of this city; three sons, Raymond Gibson, in the Navy overseas, Reppard Gibson of this city and Robert Gibson of Baxley; three sisters, Mrs. Laura Lane and Miss Lillie Gibson, both of Ehrhardt, SC and Mrs. Angie Gillian of Bamberg, SC; brothers Joe E. and Laz Gibson, both of Ehrhardt. Funeral services are to be held Tuesday afternoon near Baxley, GA. Arrangements are in charge of Seashole.
