Ehrhardt – Jacob Laz Gibson, 79, died Friday at Bamberg County Memorial Hospital after a short illness.
Funeral services were at 4 p.m. Sunday at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Paul M. Ballard and the Rev. Clarence E. Turner officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mr. Gibson was born in Bamberg County, a son of the late Henry Ealy and Nancy George Gibson. He wa a retired farmer and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist church.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Irene Kinard Gibson of Ehrhardt; a daughter, Mrs. Nancy Nix of Bamberg; three sons, Tommy R. Gibson of Orangeburg, Jacob M. Gibson of Ehrhardt and Henry E. Gibson of Columbia; two sisters, Mrs. Lillie G. Ayer and Mrs. Laura G. Lane of Ehrhardt and seven grandchildren.
Cooner Funeral Home was in charge.
