MRS. MARY REID DIES AT AGE OF 83 EARLY TODAY
Except for Last Six Years When She Lived in Rockford, She Had Lived All Her Life at Argyle.
Mrs. Mary Andrew Reid, widow of William H. Reid, 83 years old, died today at 12:30 am. at her home, 115 Hall st., following an illness of five weeks from infirmities of old age.
Mrs. Reid was born in Argyle Aug. 26, 1843, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Andrew, among the first settlers in the Scotch settlement at Argyle. She was married to William H. Reid Feb. 16, 1865 and lived on a farm at Argyle until six years ago she came to Rockford to make her home at the present address.
Her husband died April 15, 1918. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian church.
Surviving her are two sons, Hugh Reid and John M. Reid, boh of Argyle, three daughters, Mrs. Robert Cummings, of Caledonia, Mrs. Robert Henderson, of Rockford, and Miss Elizabeth Reid, of Rockford, fifteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She also leaves a sister, Mrs. Janet Kelly, of Argyle.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 pm. at the late residence and at 1:30 pm. at Westminster Presbyterian church, the Rev. Edgar W. Smith, of Argyle, officiating. Burial will be at Argyle.
