James was the son of John & Mahala Graham Sherrow. He married Mattie Graham (probably the daughter of Nicholas & Arkie Switzer Graham/Grimes). They were the parents of Levie, Millie and Margaret Sherrow and one other child who passed away, prior to 1900. Mr. Sherrow supported his family by working as a farmer.

•Obit-Mt. Hebron-Mr. James Shearrer [sic Sherrow] died at his home near here, May 6th. He has been sick for some time being a victim of the fatal disease, consumption. He was the son of Mr. Jno. Sherrow and the fifth of the family to die of this disease. He leaves a wife and three small children to mourn his loss. The remains were laid to rest in Mt. Hebron Cemetery after funeral services by G W Tompson [sic Thompson]. The family have the sympathy of the entire community.
