Matilda was born in Constable, Franklin County,New York, the 3rd of 9 known children of Francois Xavier Poirier aka Peach and Cleophee Clare Patenaude. She married Andrew John Landre aka Landry, son of John Landry and Rose Daniels, in St. Joseph's Church, Malone, Franklin County, New York. The couple raised their children in Constable, New York; Matilda "Tilly" b 1862, George William b 1868, Frederick Alfred b 1871, Charles b 1872, Peter Francis "Frank" b 1874, Andrew Jackson Martin b 1878, Joseph b 1880, Edward Jacob b 1882, and Maud Marion E. Landry b 1885. By 1900 they had moved to Springfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts joining Matilda's brother and other family members who had also made the move. Matilda died from Intestine Cancer, age 56 years. After her death spouse John moved to their son George's residence in Boston and died 6 weeks later. The couple and many of their children are buried in the family plot.
