Charles E. McCalla, 74, 512 East Eighth street, died at 12:17 a.m. today in Woodlawn hospital where he had been a patient since Monday. Mr. McCalla had been in failing health since Sept. 19.

Born March 29, 1890 in Fairmont, he was the son of John and Mary (Warner) McCalla. His marriage was Aug. 16, 1911 in Peru to Hulda Gilliland, who survives. Mr. McCalla had lived in Rochester for the past 36 years, moving here from Peru.

Surviving with the wife are two sons, Harold and Echo, both of Rochester; five daughters, Mrs. Howard (Florence) Wood, Mrs. Pat Richardson, Mrs. Jack (Barbara) Clark, Mrs. Helen Dague and Mrs. Charles (Marjorie) Miller, all of Rochester; eighteen grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Three sons and a daughter preceded in death.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Zimmerman Brothers funeral home with the Rev. C. J. Mowrer officiating. Burial will be in the Deedsville IOOF cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today.
