Son of Henry A. Bowers and Sarah Corn, William Bowers married Sarah Ann Stanier on 2 Aug 1885 in Wolstanton, Staffordshire, England. They had four children before he immigrated to America in 1893. Sarah Ann immigrated the following year with their three surviving children. They had an additional child born in America. However, William died 10 Dec 1896 according to the Trenton Sunday Advertiser 13 Dec 1896. He is buried in Riverview Cemetery, there is no headstone.

On 22 Nov 1902, his widow Sarah Ann Stanier Bowers married Henry Clay Gillam. Before her death in 1918, she had 2 more children. "Sarah Annie" is also interred in Riverview Cemetery.
