Sarah married William Bowers, August 2, 1885, St. Margaret Church, Newcastle Under Lyme, Staffordshire, England. William came to US in 1893 to work in Trenton potteries and live near his two sisters there.
Sarah followed in 1894 with her four children, having lost a daughter Sarah Emma in 1888. One more child, Ernest, was born in Trenton NJ in 1895. Sadly, she was widowed in 1896 and some of her children had to be sent to other relatives and foster families for care, two in Delaware. Eventually all reunited and lived in NJ except for son Frederick Percy who remained in Delaware.
Sarah married Henry Gillam November 22, 1902 and they had two children, Laura and Henry.
For many years they resided at Perrine St building of Provisions Co. that made Taylor Pork Roll where Henry worked as a butcher most of his life.
Trenton Evening Times, 5 June 1918 obituary:
GILLAM--In this city, on the 4th inst., Sarah, wife of Henry Gillam, in the 54th year of her age. The relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral from her husband's residence, No 20 Perrine Avenue, on Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment at Riverview Cemetery.
