Percy came to American with his mother and siblings destination his father in Trenton, NJ. When his father died in 1896, he & his brothers were sent to live in foster families while his mother continued to work in Trenton pottery. He was adopted by Charles T. and Emma Sedgwick Wheatley. They became his family though he was reunited with his mother in later years. The Wheatley's were always known to his Bowers family as their 'parents' and 'grandparents'.
He was an automotive machinist and worked at J.B. Hurley & Sons, Seaford, in addition to having his own machine shop in Blades. He married Hattie Larmore in 1917 and they had five children. Percy was a Charter Member of Blades Volunteer Fire Company.
In addition to children listed, a daughter Elizabeth Jane Phillips (1930-2006) died in Keysville, Charlotte County, Virginia, cemetery unknown.
