Paris - Jack E. Hansen our beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2000, at the age of 66, of complications due to congestive heart failure.
He was born August 2, 1934, in Garden City, Utah to Charles and Vilate Hansen, being the youngest of 14 children. He attended North Rich High School, where he participated in various sports and graduated in 1952.
On July 15, 1955, he married Flora Carney. He worked for San Francisco Chemical Company in the underground mining division. They later moved to Ogden, Utah, where he was employed at Jackson Distributing for 20 years. He returned to the Bear Lake Valley and purchased Hansen Wholesale Candy Business. In 1991, he and his wife assumed ownership of the Paris Cafe, where he made many friends.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and friends, and his special friend, "Pooh Dog." He always had a story to tell, a tune to whistle and a contagious laugh.
Jack is survived by his wife, Flora; four children, Vicki (Jim) Drysdale of Ogden, Utah, Charles Jack (Theresa) Hansen of Twin Falls, Idaho, Donald M. Hansen of Montpelier, Idaho, and Michelle (Jeff) Price of Roy, Utah; 16 grandchildren; and three brothers, Russell Hansen of Garden City, Utah, LeRoy Hansen and LaVarr Hansen, both of Ogden, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents, 10 brothers and sisters, and one grandson.
At Jack's request, there will be a viewing held this evening, Friday, October 13, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Matthew's Mortuary in Montpelier, and graveside services will be held Saturday, Oct. 14, at 2 p.m. in the Garden City, Utah Cemetery.
The family suggests that donations be made to the American Heart Association.
