James Pratt was born on Jan. 6, 1835 in Texas at Fort Parker. He and his mother were captured by Indians in May, 1836. They were separated by the Indians. Rachel never saw him again. James was returned on January 15, 1843. He married twice. First wife was Cynthia Ann Stuart and they had three children, Phoebe Elizabeth, Mary Josephine "Mollie", and James Pratt, Jr. He married Martha Hogan after the death of Cynthia and they had one son, Wilds Pratt. James died on November 17, 1862, in Arkansas, while serving in the Confederate Army. Since he died in Arkansas, he is probably buried there, but there is a marker in Plummer Cemetery for him.
