Smith Kite, 89, of Gothenburg, passed away on April 18, 2010 at Gothenburg, NE.

Smith enjoyed life to the fullest. He liked to garden, fish, hunt, play golf bird watch, travel and camp, read, play games. He loved music and singing. But his great love was preaching and teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. When he came home from World War II he had his mind made up to work for the Lord. He preached in all of the mid-west states. He and Mary lived and worked in Texas, Kansas, Nebraska and Wyoming and he held gospel meetings in many other states. He taught and baptized hundreds of people into the Lord's body (the church).

He was born, along with his twin brother, Haun Kite, May 2, 1920, at Princeton, TX, to Lacy and Delia Rainwater Kite. He was married in 1940 to Mary McAuley who survives. They had four sons, who survive: Terence (Jo) of Malibu, CA. Syd (Joleen) of Gothenburg, NE; Paul (Gayle) of Benson, AZ; David (Judy) of Austin, TX. Also surviving are nine grandchildren: Bryan (Patricia) Kite, Charlotte, NC; Valene (Ryan) Roseke, Center Point, Iowa; Aaron (Summer)Kite, Dodge City, KS; Jason (Robin) Kite, Malibu,CA; Derek (Valerie) Kite, York, NE; Julie (Jeff) Lemon, Peoria, AZ; Dan (Jimieanne) Kite, Norman, OK; Justin Kite and Megan Kite of San Antonio, TX. He is survived by sixteen great grand children. Also surviving are his brothers: Haun (Neva) Kite, Amarillo, TX; James
(Joyce) Kite, Kennedale, TX and his sister, Fay (Roy) Davis, Plano, TX.

He was preceded in death by his older brother, Tom Kite and one great grand child, John Owen Kite.
