Louisa Fiona Trefzger Chalfant was daughter of Martin and Katharine Genter Trefzger of Wehr, Baden, Germany. Louisa was born in Pennsylvania. She met and married John Arthur Chalfant, Sr. John was the eldest child of 12 of Daniel Spring Chalfant and Sarah Hershey Fisher Chalfant. Louisa and John Chalfant were married in 1883. Together they had 4 children:Bertram Arnold Chalfant, John Arthur Chalfant, Jr.,Helen Chalfant (died in infancy), and Miriam Evelyn Chalfant Rainey.

MRS. LOUISA CHALFANT
Word was received in this city Friday of the death of Mrs. Louisa Chalfant, which occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Miriam Chalfant Reaney, Nashville, Tenn. She was born in Columbia and with her late son conducted a grocery store at 501 South Lime street for twenty years. For the past two years she has resided with her daughter in Nashville.
Besides her daughter, Mrs. Reaney, she is survived by son, Bertram, also of Nashville; also three grandchildren and one brother, Arnold Trusker, of Mount Carmel. She was a member of Salome U.B.. church, Columbia, and Naomi Lodge No. 13.
Brief services will be held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Kreider, 501 South Lime street, this city, Monday at 1:30 p.m. with further services at 2:30 p.m. in Salome U.B. church, Columbia. Burial will be in Laurel Hill cemetery. Friends may call at the Kreider home tomorrow between 7 and 9 P. M.
