Burgenland History: In 1043 a peace treaty between Henry III and King Samuel Aba of Hungary fixed the western border of Hungary along the Leitha and Lafnitz rivers, among others. The territory of the present-day Burgenland remained the western border-zone of Hungary until 1920. The demise of the Austrian-Hungarian monarchy occured in 1918 and World War I set the date of Burgenland's official unification with Austria as August 28, 1921.

Per Father Graisy's book on Wallern, Elisabeth Schwarzbauer, born 1849 in Wallern, married Johann Csida of Pamhagen in 1872. She was the daughter of Johann Schwarzbauer, of house 75 (Hauptstraße 8) in Wallern, born 1810, and Eva Deutsch, of house 77 (Hauptstraße 4) in Wallern, born 1818, who married in 1837. Graisy gives considerably more detail on her siblings and ancestry in his book. Apparently, her sister Magdalene (born 1852) married Matthias Csida of Pamhagen in 1876. Might he be a brother to Johann? Graisy only gives the year of births, marriages and deaths, but the films of the Wallern church records are quite good and would provide exact dates.
