From the SOUTH BEND (IN) TRIBUNE, Wednesday, November 15, 1939:

Mrs. Elizabeth Tschida, aged 89, of 237 Pagin street, died at 12:20 a.m. today in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Michael Wartha, with whom she resided. She had been ill six weeks. Born in Austria in 1850, she came here 51 years ago from that country. She was married there in 1872 to John Tschida, who died here in 1926. She leaves, besides her daughter, two sons, John and Frank Tschida, 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Julia Ratgip, (newspaper had an ink blot), of St. Paul, Minn.

Elisabeth was baptized on November 3, 1849 in Valla, Moson, Hungary, the daughter of Johann Schwarzbauer and Eva Deutsch.

Valla became part of Austria on August 28, 1921, and the village is now referred to as Wallern, Burgenland, Austria.
