Andrew Toney of Weathersby Dies

Funeral services were conducted from the Goodwater Baptist Church Monday morning for Andrew Toney, who died Sunday at his home at Weathersby. Mr. Toney was 88 years of age, and had been a resident of this county for many years. Services were conducted by the Revs. R. E. Bounds, L.S. Gardner, and C.C. Jones, with interment following in the Goodwater Cemetery with the Mims Mitchell Funeral Home in charge.

Mr. Toney is survived by his wife, Mrs. Emma Walker Toney, and six sons and five daughters, William Toney of Oak Grove, La.; Charlie Toney of Mangum, La.; Andrew Toney, Jr., of Holly Ridge, La.; Joe Toney of Hattiesburg; Willie Toney of Hattiesburg; Mrs. Emma Dunham of Vidalia, La.; Mrs. Minnie Hemphill of D'Lo; Mrs. Mattie May of Hattiesburg; Mrs. Lelia Westmoreland of Pinola; and Mrs. Levia Thompson of Hattiesburg.

Beloved Simpson Countian
Passes Away


On Saturday afternoon, August 9, 1941 at two o'clock the death angel came and claimed the life of one of Simpson county's oldest and most beloved citizen, Mr. Andrew Toney, Sr., after one week's illness.

He was eighty nine years, eleven months and twenty three days old, lacking one week reaching his nineith birthday. He lived a Christian life and was ready to die. He was loved by all who knew him and will be missed by everyone. The last words he said were "God bless you children for what you have done for me." He was born at Washington Parish, La., later coming to Simpson County where he made his home. At the time of his death, he lived at Weathersby. He was a member of Popular Springs Church.

Funeral services were held at Goodwater Church Monday morning at 10 o'clock, with Rev. C.C.Jones of Mendenhall, Re. R.E.Bounds, and Re. Luther Gardner, both of Weathersby, conducting the services. Interment was in the Goodwater Cemetery.

Mims Mitchell Funeral Home of Magee had charge of burial arrangements and the following grandchildren served as pallbearers: J. W. Leon, Buddy Toney, W.D. and Buddy Gowans and Rance Walker.

Mr. Toney leeaves to mourn his passing his devoted wife, Mrs. Maggie Walker Toney of Weathersby, and the following sons and daughters: Joe and Willie Toney of Weathersby, George Toney of Rayville, La., Andrew Toney, Jr. of Holly Ridge, La., Charley Toney of Mangham, La., Buddy Toney of Oak Grove, La., five Mrs. Levia Thompson and Mrs. Mattie May of Weathersby, Mrs. Minnie Hemphill of D'Lo, Mrs. Emma Dunham of Vidalia, La., and Mrs. Lelia Westmoreland of Pinola, and a host of relatives and friends.

After Long Illness


MAGEE, AUG.22 - Andrew Toney died at his home after an illness of one week. He was eighty-nine years old.

Funeral services were held at Goodwater Church with Rev. C.C.Jones, Re. R.E.Bounds, and Re. Luther Gardner conducting the services. Interment was in the Goodwater Cemetery.

Six grandchildren served as pallbearers. They were J. W. Leon, Buddy Toney, W.D. and Buddy Gowans and Rance Walker.
