APEX, NC - Rev. Harold Chrismon, age 86, passed away peacefully in Apex, NC on March 7, 2010 from natural causes.

Pete was born May 10, 1923 in Brown Summit, NC and was the fourth of nine children born into the family of Ira Banner Chrismon and Venia Myrtle Myrick Chrismon.

Pete was preceded in death by three brothers, Jesse, Lloyd, Jake, and a sister, Fleta Coltrane.

Surviving family members include his sister Thelma, and three brothers, Golden, Eugene, and Donnie.

Pete graduated from Monticello High School in Brown Summit, NC.

After graduating from high school in 1942, Pete met his wife, Mary Jacqueline Woodburn "Jackie" and they were married November 21, 1942 in Elon College, NC.

Pete served his country in a branch of the Air Force / US Army from January 15, 1943 to December 1, 1945 as a Staff Sergeant during World War II. His military tour was completed in the European Front.

Pete earned his Associate Degree from College of the Albemarle, Elizabeth City in May, 1964. He earned his BA in May, 1969 from UNC at Pembroke. Pete was also awarded his Seminary Degree from Duke University and was declared an Ordained Deacon with the United Methodist Church in 1971.

Rev. Chrismon began his 26 year career as a Methodist Minister in 1962 serving three churches, Bright Meadows in Elizabeth City, NC and Union-Newbegun in Weeksville, NC. He also served as pastor at the following Methodist churches: 1966 - 1973 Snead's Grove UMC and Tabernacle UMC; 1973 to 1975 Elm City UMC; 1975 to 1980 Trinity UMC; 1980 to 1985 Vass UMC; 1985 to 1990 Lillington UMC; and 1990 – 1993 Hope Mills UMC. He retired in 1993.

After retiring, Pete continued his service as a pastor and served as the minister at Cokesbury United Methodist Church starting in 1994.

Surviving family members include Pete's devoted wife, Jackie, of 67 years, his children, Harold Jr (Joan) of Apex, NC, Roger of Charlotte, NC, Errol (Evonne) of Knoxville, TN, and Cathy (Al) of Raleigh, NC, five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral service was at 2:00 pm on Friday, March 12, 2010 at Apex United Methodist Church, 100 South Hughes Street, Apex, NC 27502.
