BROWN SUMMIT, NC — Loyd Irvin Chrismon, 88, of 5811 Chrismon Road, died on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at his home.

Funeral services were held at 3 pm Friday, November 27, 2009 at Apple's Chapel Christian Church with Rev. Allen Myers and Rev. Tim Geiger officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery with military rites.

Loyd was born in Guilford County to the late Ira B. and Myrtle Wyrick Chrismon and lived his entire life in Guilford County.

He was of the Christian faith and a member of Apple's Chapel Christian Church.

He served in the US Army during WWII and fought in the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium, was a planning manager with Burlington Industries and a member of the Gideon's North Camp for many years.

In addition to his parents, and wife of 67 years, Ruby Powell Chrismon, he was preceded in death by his brothers; Jesse and Jake Chrismon; sister, Fleta Coltrane and newborn baby girl, Myra June Chrismon.
He is survived by his son, Garrett Chrismon (Carol), daughter, Sylvia Allison (Stan) all of Brown Summit; grandchildren, Arlette Horner (Dale), Kyle Chrismon and (Melanie), Melanie Puckett (Michael); great-grandchildren, Carson Chrismon, Mallory Chrismon, Jordan White and Taylor White; brothers, Harold "Pete" Chrismon, Golden Chrismon, Eugene Chrismon and Donnie Chrismon; sister, Thelma Whitesell and numerous nieces and nephews.
