He married Ellen M. (Ladd) December l4, l9l8 in Atkin, Minnesota. He farmed most of his life in Burdette township. He served on township, county and school boards. He was active in the Burdette Methodist Church and the Wheaton United Church of Christ.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Horace Kasin (Geraldine) of Wallace, SD, Mrs. John Trongard, (Mildred) of Watertown and Mrs. J. W. (Alice) Kaye of Mitchell, a son Donald of Tulare, twelve grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, two brothers, Clark of Wessington and J. Carroll of West Lafayette, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his wife and two brothers
Sheldon Gale Bottum died Monday at the Redfield Hospital at the age of 86. The funeral was Thursday at 2:00 p. m. at the Wheaton United Church of Christ, rural Zell with Rev. Paul Opsahl officiating. Burial was in the Burdette Cemetery. Coleman—Thelen Funeral Home announced the arrangements.
