Clark L. Bottum, 84, Wessington died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 1983 at his home.

Clark Leslie Bottum was born October 4, 1898 in Burdette Township, Hand County,
the son of Mr. and Mrs. George R. (Mary Stewart) Bottum. He attended rural
schools and graduated from Miller High School in 1917. He served in the United
States Army during World War I and then farmed with his brother, Sheldon Bottum
on the home farm and taught in rural schools.

He established the Bottum Brothers Ford Motor Company in partnership with his
brother, Stewart Bottum in Wessington in 1926. He later acquired the
International Harvester dealership and remained in business until his
retirement. He married Hazel K. Lingscheit June 12, 1944 at Ree Heights.

He was a member of first Presbyterian Church, Wessington and served on the board
of trustees for several years. He was a member of the American Legion
Watson-Krauter Post No. 110 and World War I Veterans of Wessington.

He served on the Wessington board of education from 1945-1966 and served as a
director of Farmland Building Supply when it was first organized.

He is survived by his wife, a son and daughter-in-law, David and Thelma Bottum
Morrison, IL; a daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Douglas Fritzsche, a brother,
Carlton Pinch, Englewood, CO and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 26 at the First Presbyterian Church,
Wessington with the Rev. Earl Estill officiating. Burial was in the Wessington
Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Watson-Krauter Post 110.

Pallbearers were Richard Bottum, Delbert Bottum, Donald Bottum, Roger Bottum,
Thomas Lingscheit and John Frary.
