FUNERAL RITES ARE HELD FOR VICTOR JOHNSON

Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 1, at the First Lutheran Church, Algona, for Victor D. Johnson. The Rev. Emil Benzon was in charge and burial was in Riverview.

Death was due to a strangulated hernia and high blood pressure, following a six week illness.

Mr. Johnson was born September 17, 1871, in Lindenburg, Sweden, the son of Lars and Emma Johnson. He came to America when he was 11 years old, and lived in Pella two years before coming to Algona. On December 12, 1895, he was married to Rena Omholt at Algona. She died in January 1943. Eleven children were born, but four sons are dead.

Survivors include six daughters and one son: Mrs. Ross (Florence) Calhoun, Mrs. Emma Haag, Mrs. Kenneth (Helen) Seely, all of Algona; Hjalmar, on the home place; Mrs. James (Ruth) Davidson, Sioux Falls; Mrs. Karl (Lillian) Anderson, Wahoo, Nebr.; and Mrs. Harold (Evelyn) Sorensen, LuVerne.
