Survive; Reason for
Death Unknown

Wilfred Olaf Johnson, 36, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Victor Johnson, who live
at the junction of Diagonal street and
Highway 18, was found shortly before
Tuesday noon, dead, a victim of a self inflicted
discharge from a 12guage shotgun.

Wilfred's body was found about 30
feet southwest of the barn on|the
Johnson place, in a grove of evergreens
by his brother, Hjalmer. Wilfred had
not been seen since about 11 p. m.,
Monday evening. He had been across
the street at the oil station, run by
his brother, and his folks heard him
enter the house about 11 p. m. He
went upstairs and then left in a few
minutes. They did not see him, but
thought he had probably gone down
town with some friends.

Worked on Freight Boat

No explanation for the tragedy could
be formed. Wilfred, who was born and
raised at the parental home, had been
working at the home place most of the
time since completing his education
with the exception of three years when
be worked on a freight boat on the
Great Lakes.

Wilfred was born Nov. 19, 1898, and
had a host of friends in this section.
He was unmarried.

Funeral Service Today

Funeral services were to be held at
2- p. m. today, with Rev. M.A. Sjostrand
in charge. The deceased was
baptised and confirmed in the First
Lutheran church here.

In addition to his parents, two brothers,
Hjalmer and Edwin, and six
sisters, Mrs. Emma Hagg, Mrs. Florence
Calhoun, Mrs. Ruth Davidson,
Mrs. Helen Seeley, all of Algona, Mrs.
Lillian Swanson, Wahoo, Neb., and
Mrs. Evelyn Sorensen of LuVerne, survive.
Dr. R. A. Evans, county coroner, said
the death was plainly a case of suicide.
