A SUDDEN SUMMONS.

Lars Johnson Falls From His Wagon
and Is Found Dead.

Lars Johnson who lived for several
years past a short distance north of
the Milwaukee depot, met a sudden
and unexpected death last Saturday
evening. Mr. Johnson was 74 years of
age, and was naturally not in vigorous
health, which may account in some
measure for his sudden ending. He
was unloading a load of oats that evening
at his granary, and not appearing
as usual at the expected time, a search
was made for him and his body found
between the wagon and the granary.
Only a small portion of the oats had
been unloaded, and from appearances
it would seem that he fell from the
wagon either by accident or from dizziness
or a weak spell, and his head
struck on the tire or hub of the wheel
and rendered him unconscious, for the
body was found with the head bent
under so that he probably died from
suffocation. There were two marks on
the head showing that it struck the
wheel or hub in the fall. It was
thought that the body had lain there
about two hours.

Mr. Johnson was a native of Sweden,
and he and his family came to America
in 1882, first locating at Pella, Iowa.
They came to Kossuth county the next
year and located at the place where
Mr. Johnson died. - The family consisted
of husband and wife and two sons
and two daughters. One daughter died
about fifteen years ago. The other
daughter Is the wife of J. A. Johnson.
The sons are Victor of this place and
C. 0., now of Eddyville, Iowa. The
latter came to attend the funeral which
took place Tuesday. Mr. Johnson was,
or had been a member of the Swedish
Lutheran church, and the burial was
conducted by Rev. Lundel of that
church. Deceased was an honest and
hardworking man.
