Catherine Breitweiser, 68, Jasper, died at 6:30 p.m. Friday in Good Samaritan Nursing Center in Jasper, where she had been a resident since Feb. 14, 1979. She was born at Louisville Aug. 6, 1914, to Joseph and Catherine (Schnell) Hoffmann. Her first husband was Guy Bowman. She was later married to Leroy "Jim" Breitweiser, who died in 1955. Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Edward (Anna) Knebel of Jasper, Mrs. Wilbur (Barbara) Rice of Philpot, Ky., and Mrs. Gary (Ruth) Leistner of Dubois; three sons, John, and Leroy Breitweiser of Jasper and Kenneth Bowman of Bowling Green, Fla.; two brothers Joseph Hoffmann of Louisville and Alvin "Bud" Hoffmann of Jasper; three sisters, Mrs. Lawrence Bellner of Jasper and Mrs. Marie Degener and Mrs. Emma Soeder of Louisville; and 16 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son Wayne; a brother George Hoffmann; and three sisters, Caroline and Amelia, who died in infancy, and Matilda. Mrs. Breitweiser was formerly employed as a cook at Memorial Hospital, the Holiday Inn and the Jasper Country Club. Friends may call at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper after 10 a.m. Sunday. The VFW Auxiliary of Jasper will have a memorial service at 8 p.m. The funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. John Finis officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Dubois Crossroads.
