AT KESWICK CHURCH

William C. Axmear, 77, retired Keswick businessman and former state representative died Friday, February 26 after three weeks as a patient in the Keokuk county hospital.

He was the son of Jacob and Rosa Brakel Axmear and was born August 16, 1882 at Keswick. He was in the lumber business for many years and was also vice-president of White State Bank in South English.

He was the county's representative in the state legislature in 1939-40, a former member of the county board of education and a 50-year member of the Odd Fellows Lodge.

He was married in 1910 to Clara Price, who died in 1921, In 1924 he was married to Flora Dillon, who survives. He also leaves three sons, Lloyd of South English, Edgar of Keswick and Arthur of Cedar Rapids and a daughter, Mrs. John Barr of Wayne, Neb. The are three grandchildren.

Also are surviving are four brothers, Arthur of Cedar Rapids, S.H. Axmear of North English, Bruce of Pasadena, Calif., and Cecil of North Hollywood, Calif.


The funeral was held Sunday at the Keswick Methodist church with the Rev. Laurence Garrett, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Sorden cemetery.
