FORMER RESIDENT DIES IN CALIFORNIA
CECIL R. AXMEAR, 74, a former resident of this community, but a longtime resident of Sherman resident of Sherman Oaks, Calif., died June 18, 1974 in St. Vincent hospital in Sherman Oaks.
He was born near Keswick, November 25, 1899.
A veteran of World War II, he had spent most of his life working in the motion picture industry.
On one of Cecil's last visits with relatives here a few years ago, he presented a program to members of the North English Commercial Club and their wives. At that time, Cecil had just returned from a trip inside Russia, one of the very few Americans allowed in that country at that time.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel, and one brother Bruce, of Pasadena, California.
He was preceded in death by five brothers: Sidney of North English, Will and Fred of Keswick, Arthur of Cedar Rapids and George of What Cheer.
Funeral services were June 20 at Pierce Brothers Little Country Chapel. Internment was at Valhalla Memorial Park at Los Angeles, Calif.
