MRS. H. E. GEORGE LAID
TO REST SATURDAY

Funeral services were held at the H. E. George home at 1:30 Saturday and at 2 o'clock at the Union State Line church for Mrs. George, who died suddenly Wednesday, March 18. Rev. L. A. Mathre officiated, and interment was made in the family plot at Lakeview Cemetery.

Mrs. George had submitted to an operation at Estherville March 9 and was recovering nicely and looking forward to returning home in a few days, when in the late afternoon of March 18, a blood clot on the lung brought on her death.

Viola Baker was born to John T. Baker and wife, Minnie Baker, nee Booton, November 11, 1887, at Viola Center, Audubon county, Iowa. Here she received her education in the public schools and grew to womanhood.

On June 6, 1906, she was united in marriage to Harry E. George of Coon Rapids, Iowa. They settled on his father's farm and worked it until 1921 when they moved to Wisconsin. In 1924 they moved to a farm in Dickinson county on state line 11 miles northeast of Spirit Lake, Iowa. In 1937 they purchased the farm in Petersburg township, Minn., which has since been their home.

Six children, five daughters and one son were born to Mr. and Mrs. George, all of whom are living together with their father mourn the loss of a loving and devoted wife and mother. They are; Frances, Mr. Fred Sorensen of Spirit Lake; Thelma, Mrs. Wm. Froendt, of Jackson, Minn.; Violet, Mrs. Harold Stanwick, of Estherville; Helen, Mrs. Myron Guge, of Jackson, and Harry, Jr., and Virginia of Estherville.

She is also survived by her aged mother, Mrs. J. T. Baker, Sr., of Spirit Lake, and the brothers, Albert Baker of Minneapolis, W. O. Baker and John Baker of Spirit Lake and Ed. Baker of Coon Rapids. The sisters surviving are Mrs. Neil Nelson of Spirit Lake and Mrs. Ray Droll of St. Louis, Mo. She has been preceded in death by her father, one brother and two sisters. Fourteen grandchildren also survive.

As a young woman she confessed Christ an was baptized in the Christian church at Coon Rapids. On May 7, 1937, she and her husband united with the Union State Line Lutheran church by the rite of confirmation and she has been an esteemed member and willing worker in the Ladies Auxiliary of this church for nearly four years. She was also a member of the Eastern Star, belonging to Faith chapter of Coon Rapids.

Relatives and friends from out of town attending the services were Mr. and Mr. Earl George of Cresco, Mr. and Mrs. Fred George, Ed. Baker, Mrs. Jane Williams, Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Snyder, Mr. and Mrs. John Schumaker, Ted Lambert, Mr. and Mrs. Burt Pevestorf all of Coon Rapids, Mrs. Jane Parrott, East Moline, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Arlee Butterfield, Union, Iowa; Levi Poynter, of Sibley; Mr. and Mrs. Gene Tuel, Mrs. Wm. Carpenter, Mrs. Burt Carpenter of Milford, and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Booton of Superior.
