Mrs. John Baker
Died Sunday at
St. Louis, Mo.
Mrs. John F. Baker, Sr., a former long-time resident of Spirit Lake, passed away Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ray Droll in St. Louis, Mo., where she had made her home for the past three years. About a year ago Mrs. Baker suffered a fractured hip as the result of a fall and had been confined to her bed since that time.
The remains were brought to Spirit Lake, where the funeral was held Wednesday, Aug. 21, 1946, in the Methodist church, being conducted by the pastor, Rev. J. E. Feller, and burial was made in Lakeview Cemetery beside her husband, who died July 20, 1935.
Alminnie Booton, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B. G. Booton, was born April 1, 1857. at Peoria, ILL. When she was six weeks old her parents moved to Audubon county, Iowa, where she grew to womanhood.
She was married to John F. Baker, March 2, 1879, and the couple became the parents of 11 children. In 1907 the family moved to Dickinson county. Devoted to her home and family, Mrs. Baker labored unceasingly for their comfort and welfare. She was a member of the Methodist church and took part in its various activites.
She was preceded in death by her husband and five children, Robert, Oliver, Mrs. Margaret Parr, Mrs. Kathryn Browning and Mrs. Viola George. Surviving to mourn the irreparable loss of a cherished mother are Albert Baker of Minneapolis, Edward Baker of Coon Rapids, John Baker, Wilson Baker and Mrs. Beulah Nelson of Spirit Lake, and Mrs. Mildred Droll of St. Lious, Mo.
