Funeral services were held on July 5, 1994 at First Presbyterian Church in Spirit Lake for Thelma Froendt, age 85, of Spirit Lake. Rev. Walter Hamer officiated the service and music was provided by Wilma Clauson, organist and Don Clauson, soloist. Pallbearers were Joe Este, Gary Guge, Mark Guge, Ray Estes, Larry Sorensen and Verland Sorensen.
Thelma Lorraine Froendt was born to Harry and Viola (Baker) George on Aug. 27, 1908 at Coon Rapids. She attended school in Coon Rapids and Spirit Lake, graduating from Spirit Lake in 1926. She received her teaching certificate at Cedar Falls in 1927.
Thelma and William Froendt were married on Mar. 25, 1929 at Newton. She taught school prior to becoming a wife and mother.
William and Thelma farmed in Jackson County, Minn. for seven years and in Dickinson County for thirty years. She moved from Milford to Spirit Lake in 1966. She became a resident of Hilltop Care Center in January of 1987.
Thelma is survived by two sons, Melvin and his wife Dora of Milford, and Merle and his wife Elaine of Glenville, Minn.; daughter, Marjorie and her husband Bob Scheidawind and Irma and her husband Ron Albert, all of Spirit Lake; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sister, Helen Guge and Virginia Stanwick, Both of Estherville; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William two sisters, a brother and a grandson, Steven Albert.
Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Spirit Lake in charge of arrangements.
