Funeral services for Wilson Owen Baker, 72, who died suddenly of a heart attack last Friday at his home at 1405 Jackson ave., were held at the Donovan-Leyson Chapel Monday afternoon. The Rev. James Brown officating and burial was in Lakeview Cemetery. Pallbearers were Myron Guge, Verland Sorensen, Melvin Froendt, Jerry Kelly, Floyd Thompson and Meric Froendt. Vinton Arnold was soloist, accompanied by Mrs. Cameron Arnold on the organ.
Wilson Owen Baker was born in Audubon county April 18, 1894, the son of John and Minnie Baker and moved with his parents to Dickinson county in 1907 at the age of 13. He was married to Evalyn Taylor of Perry on Nov. 27, 1918, and they made their home on a farm in Superior township for 28 years. He was active in community affairs. He retired in 1946 because of a farm accident and moved to Spirit Lake where he has resided since.
Mr. Baker is survived by his wife; two brothers, Edward of Coon Rapids and John of Spirit Lake; two sisters, Mrs. Ray (Mildred) Droll of Downey, Calif. and Mrs. Neil (Beulah) Nelson of Spirit Lake; and a number of nieces and nephews.
