Mark J. LaFontaine 1901-1973

Mark J. LaFontaine of Nora Township passed away Sunday afternoon at the Clearwater Memorial Hospital at the age 71 years, for months and two days. He was born November 23, 1901 in the Clearwater Lake area but spent most of his life in the Bagley area. His marriage to Bertha Johnson took place July 5, 1923 in Bagley. They had one son Maurice also of Bagley.
Mark was well known in the Bagley area having served on the school board in the Rice Township and on the town board in Nora Township for 12 years. He was engaged in farming all of his life and did custom threshing in this area for a number of years.
He is survived by his wife, his son, one granddaughter, Marcella, and the following brothers and sisters: George of Duluth, Felix of St. Paul, Lloyd of Shevlin, Robert of Seattle, Julia (Mrs. Jim Anderson) of Minneapolis and a brother Ed of Redby. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held Thursday (Today) at 2 p.m. at the Bagley Congregational Church. The Rev. Burrell Bentz will officiate with burial in the Bagley City Cemetery under the direction of the Cease Funeral Home of Bagley.
