Mrs. Samuel H. Ewing of six miles west of Greensburg who came here two weeks ago to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Warren Townsend, 152 North Michigan Avenue, passed away at 12:30 Sunday morning aged almost 80 years.
Mrs. Ewing had been in poor health for several months and was in very delicate health on August 3 last year when her husband passed away. The funeral will be held in the Christian Church at two o'clock Tuesday afternoon, Rev. I. B. Morgan officiating, assisted by Rev. Harry Lett.
Mahala Braden was a daughter of Jackson and Nancy Lemasters Braden, early settlers of Decatur County who were married December 26, 1824. She was born on a farm and joining her late home on June 11, 1842 and was married to Samuel H. Ewing, February 22, 1859 and lived together for over 62 years until his death August 3, 1921.
Mrs. Ewing was a home builder. She reared a large family and was true and faithful to her task as wife, mother, neighbor, friend. She was the mother of six children; Mrs. Nettie Champ died several years ago. There remains to cherish the memory of mother these five: Mrs. Albert (Jennie) Boman; Morgan J., Cortez, Mrs. John (Olivia) Giberson and Mrs. Warren (Edith) Townsend. A sister, Mrs. Permelia Lawson of this city, is the only remaining member of the family of eight children. Mrs. Ewing joined the Christian Church at Milford many years ago and was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church at the time of her death.
