The sixth daughter of Jackson and Nancy (Lemasters) Braden, Permelia (the headstone spelling is unusual for this lady) grew up in rural Decatur Co., IN. She married William A. Lawson in Decatur Co., Dec. 14, 1857, the couple establishing a home on farmland five miles west of Greensburg, known to the area residents as "the Braden neighborhood."

Active in the Milford Christian Church, the Lawsons were parents four sons and seven daughters. A portion of her obituary follows:

"Mrs. Permelia Lawson passed away at 10:30 last night at her home on North Ireland street, aged 83 years.

"The deceased was the last of ten children of Jackson and Nancy Lemasters braden, pioneer residents of Decatur county, who settled in Clay township in 1825. She was married to William A. Lawson who died in 1904......Six years ago she and her daughter Josephine moved to Greensburg. The children surviving are; Seth, Samuel and Herschel, all residents of this county; Mrs. Jennie Gallentine, KMrs. Carl (Mary) Johnson and Miss Josephine who lived with her mother. Mrs. Lawson was a member of the Christian church at Milford............. The funeral will be Monday and the burial at Milford."
