Elizabeth was the second daughter born to Jackson and Nancy (Lemaster) Braden. She grew up in Clay Twp. of Decatur Co., IN near the small town of Milford.

Marrying first, William Evan Miers, Apr. 30, 1846 in Decatur Co., Elizabeth immediately became a farm wife, carrying out the responsibilities that were associated with managing a home and family. Two daughters, Editha and Sarah, and a son, Robert Evan, were born to the couple.

Following Will's death, Elizabeth married Jesse Stafford in Decatur Co., Aug. 13, 1877. The Staffords resided in the town of Milford.
