John D. Basinger, Sr.

Mr. John D. Basinger, Sr., 66, of Cotton Valley, LA died Sunday, February 1, at the VA Hospital in Shreveport, LA following a long illness.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 3, at 10 a.m. at the Bailey Mortuary Chapel in Cotton Valley with Rev. James E. Holloway officiating. Burial followed in the Cotton Valley Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Mortuary, Inc.

Mr. Basinger was a native of Castor, LA and had lived in Cotton Valley 18 years. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church and was a retired mechanic and a disabled veteran having served in the U. S. Army Air Corp during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Myrtle Bell Basinger, Cotton Valley, LA; one daughter, Mrs. Gloria Lee, Sarepta, LA; one son, Mr. John D. Basinger, Jr., Camden, AR; five brothers, Mr. Frank Basinger, Smackover, AR; Mr. Carl R. Bassinger, Springhill, LA; Mr. Leo Staggs, Dixie Inn, LA; Mr. Billy Basinger, Houston, TX; and Mr. Eugene Basinger, Memphis, TN; two sisters, Mrs. Carolyn Palmer and Mrs. Joyce Boyett, both of Sarepta, LA. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Stevie Lee, Keynon Basinger, William Basinger, Trey Palmer, Pat Hinton, and Gary Don Basinger.
