Glenn M. Gibson, 73, of Cambridge, died Saturday (Feb. 17, 2001) at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.
He was born Sept. 26, 1927, in Cambridge, son of the late Albert and Grace (McConkey) Gibson.
Mr. Gibson retired from General Telephone Co. in Cambridge after than sic 35 years of service as a switchman.
He was a member of St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church, Pleasant City. He was a life member of VFW Post 7371 of Kipling. He attended Muskingum College and The Ohio State University. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret (Basalla) Gibson, who died Feb. 19, 1997. They were married Sept. 22, 1951. Also deceased are a sister, Helen Korpeski; three brothers, Clyde, Walter and Arthur "Art" Gibson.
He leaves three sons, Mark G. Gibson and brad J. Gibson, both of Columbus, and Greg S. Gibson of Cambridge; three daughters, Mrs. Earl Joseph (Deborah) Gognat, Mrs. Larry (Beth) Trussa and Mrs. Herbert (Lora) Kenworthy, all of Cambridge; six grandchildren, Jason, Karlee and Stephen Gibson, Tim, Brian and Joseph Gognat; two great-grandchildren, Ashley Gibson and Alex Gognat; a brother, Albert Gibson of Dayton; five sisters, Edith Archer of Cambridge, Elizabeth "Libbie" Baker of New Philadelphia, Ethel Meseska of Houston, Texas, Dorothy Miller of Coconut Creek, Fla., and Patricia "Pat" Smith of Newcomerstown.
Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Scott Funeral Home, Cambridge, where wake services will be 8 p.m. with the Rev. Fr. Robert Borer officiating.
Panichida will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Divine Liturgy will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church, Pleasant City, with the Rev. Fr. Seraphim J. Chewning officiating.
Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Pleasant City.
