IN MEMORIAM
DIED - At his residence in Derby, Iowa, July 23rd, 1896, by a stroke of lightning, Bro. H. L. Grimes, in the 33rd year of his age.
WHEREAS, It has pleased God in His providence to call from our midst our worthy Brother, a member of Derby Lodge, No. 329, I.O.O.F. Death came to him suddenly and took him away without an apparent struggle. The sad tidings of his death brought to us a sad shock, never to be forgotten, and a deep sadness that still lingers about our hearts.
Bro. Grimes, though not a physically strong man, towered up with prominence, commanding the attention and respect of all who knew him in the path of life. To know him was to love him. To meet him as an Odd Fellow was to feel the hearty grasp of an honest man, and the thrill and warmth of an honest heart.
Therefore be it Resolved, That we humbly bow to the will of our Heavenly Father, and that the widow and little daughter have our heartfelt sympathy in their bereavement. That a copy of these resolutions be placed upon the records of the Lodge; also that a copy by presented to the family, and that copies be furnished to the county papers.
Committee: J. A. Robison, D. N. Hickok, C. H. Davis
