Josephine went to Ohio to marry William Hobson. She met him on a blind date and they were married one year to the day later. It was her only marriage.

William died in 1911. The same year Josephine went to the very first Indianapolis 500 Race. She attended the race with poet James Whitcomb Riley, and James Allison and Carl Fisher, both of whom financially backed and built the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Josephine died in Indiana in 1977 at the age of 103.

Services for Mrs. L. Josephine Bennett Hobson, 103, a resident of the Methodist Memorial Home at Warren, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of the home. Graveside services and burial will be held at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday in Crown Hill Cemetery. She died Saturday at the home. Born in Boone County, Mrs. Hobson was a former Indianapolis resident. She was a member of the Central Avenue United Methodist Church and widow of William W. Hobson. Friends may call after 10 a.m. today in the chapel of the home.
