He was a graduate of Whisenton High School in DeKalb, MS.
He married Peggy Joyce Steele, the daughter of Will Steele, Sr. and Dossie Grant Steele, who is also a native of Kemper County, MS, and they had two children, one son and one daughter.
The family moved from Mississippi to Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, OH.
He died November 19, 1985 at the age of 47.
