Shirley Ann Scott Houston was a TWIN born January 16, 1948, to Felton Hawthorne Scott, Sr. and Suevilla "O.V." Roberts Scott in DeKalb, Kemper County, MS.

During her youth, she joined St. Mark United Methodist Church in DeKalb, MS, and was a faithful and devoted member.

She also attended Whisenton High School in DeKalb, MS.

She married Ernest Houston, the son Benjamin Franklin Houston and Callie Houston Houston, who is also a native of DeKalb, Kemper County, MS. She was the mother of three children, two sons and one daughter.

The Houstons moved to Gary, Lake County, IN, and lived there for several years before relocating to Merrillville, Lake County, IN, where she was living at her death.

Shirley was a member of the St. Paul M.B. Church where she served as an Assistant Sunday School Teacher. She was a former member of Emmanuel Baptist Church where she was a Youth Director and usher. Shirley will be remembered as a loving and caring person.

She died February 27, 2015 at the age of 67.

She was the Wife of Ernest Houston; the Mother of Angela Houston Aurel, Eric Houston, and Benjamin Houston; the Daughter of Felton Hawthorne Scott, Sr. and Suevilla "O.V." Roberts Scott; the Sister of Lizzie Jean Scott, Jimmie Scott, Mervis Scott, Mel Viola Scott, Joann Scott Alexander (her twin), Stanley Theodis "Stan" Scott, and Felton Hawthorne Scott, Jr.; the Paternal Granddaughter of James Scott and Jessie Jack Scott; and the Maternal Granddaughter of Leroy Roberts and Lizzie Rush Roberts.
