DIES AT HOME OF DAUGHTER
William Sherman Throckmorton, 85, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George B. Aden, at 3:30 this morning. His death was attributed to a heart ailment.
The body will lie in state at the McCauley-Chapman funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday, followed by a short memorial service, Rev. J. A. Farnham officiating. Burial will be made in the Throckmorton family cemetery at Derby, Iowa.
Mr. Throckmorton was born in Lucas county, Iowa, July 13, 1865. He was educated in the rural schools of Lucas county and Garden Grove. He also attended Allegheny college in Pennsylvania. He was married October 28, 1891 to Fannie Corder at Garden Grove, Iowa.
He was engaged in the mercantile business during his lifetime, starting at LeRoy, Iowa, and later at Garden Grove. He retired about 15 years ago. During the past eight years, he had made his home in Webster City with his daughter.
He is survived by four children: J. C. Throckmorton of Osceola, Nebr., Willa Joy Throckmorton of Des Moines, C. L. Throckmorton of Osceola, Iowa, and Mrs. Aden. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and two brothers, Dr. Charles Throckmorton of Park Ridge, Ill. and Dr. Fred Throckmorton, Des Moines. Five brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.
During his lifetime he was always active in civic and church affairs in his community. A quiet and reserved man, his presence always brought respect for his counsel and advice.
