"Mrs John Haase died Thursday. Mrs John Haase, a resident of the Convalescent Center in Odessa for several years, and a life-time resident of the Odessa area, passed away at the center on Thursday, Sept 20, 1973 at the age of 85. Mrs Haase was born in Parkston, South Dakota on Jan 30, 1888, the daughter of Christoph and Justine Janke. She and John Haase were married on Sept 6, 1905. The couple had 5 sons and 4 daughters. They lived most of their married life on a farm in the Odessa area, and then in town. Her son Clarence, and husband John preceded her in death. Survivors include sons Otto of Spokane, Harold of Casa Grande, AZ, Harvey of Odessa and Weldon of Issaquah. Also surviving are her daughters, Mrs Hilda Millhorn of Casa Grande, AZ, Mrs Delora Yanke of Campe, CA, Mrs Elsie Bartalamay and Mrs Esther Schlimmer, both of Odessa. Mrs Haase had 21 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held in her honor on Sept 24 at 11 a.m. at the United Congregational Church, where she held membership. Dr Schafer officiated. Pall bearers were Ron Haase, Erwin Graves, Harlan Millhorn, Greg Haase, Bob Haase, Larry Widmer and Melvin Haase.
