Leamon Oral Boatright, 95, of Bradenton, Florida formerly of Marion passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2007.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend Richard G. Mohr officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at the funeral home. Military rites will be held at the funeral home by Marion VFW Post 1301 and American Legion Post 147. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion. Memorials may be made to M.O.A.A. Mr. Boatright was born February 25, 1911 in Creal Springs, Illinois to Hugh F. and Courtney L. (Jones) Boatright. At the beginning of World War II, Leamon was called to Camp Grant, near Rockford, Illinois for the United States Army Medical Administrative Service. He retired as a Major with the United States Army in 1957 at Fort Campbell, Kentucky after 20 years of service. While at Camp Grant, Leamon became acquainted with Marian Alta Temple, they were married in New York City on October 25, 1941 and had five children. Marian passed away April 28, 1958.
Survivors include his children, Catherine Boatright of Bradenton, Florida, Carol A. and Dennis Dix of Jackson, Tennessee, Linda and Dennis Hanson of Inverness, Florida, Lee Allen and Barbara Boatright of Potter Valley, California, and Harry L. and Jeanine Boatright of Cotati, California; step-daughters, Norma and husband Lowell Kerr of Marion and Ardis Fox of Melbourne, Florida; sister, Janie Marie Dippie of Marion; grandchildren, Andrea Hanson, Marcus and Tim Couch, Ryan and Lisa Boatright and Craig Boatright; and great grandchildren, Lauren Elizabeth and Colton Bradley Boatright.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and five siblings.
Mr. Boatright formerly owned Boatright Real Estate in Marion, he was a member and past-president of the Lions Club of Marion, and he was also a life member and past president of the Military Officers Association of America-Bradenton Chapter.
