JOHN D. MAGERS
---John D. Magers, aged eighty-seven years and ten months was born on September 8, 1853 and died July 8, 1941. He was the son of Yancy and Matilda Magers.
---In October, 1873 he was united in marriage to Catherine Carter. To this union twelve children were born, six boys and six girls, eight which are still living.
---Mr. Magers was united with the Baptist Church thirty-eight years ago and had lead a great christian life.
---Four children preceded him in death. The living are Rena Flint of Bucklin, Clarence Magers of Columbia, Joe Magers of La Plata, Rozza Magers of Ethel, Lela Colyer of Kirksville and Edith Corrum, Kirksville.
---He leaves to mourn, the children above mentioned, his wife, eighty-seven years of age, one brother, Jim Magers of Oklahoma, twenty-three grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren besides a host of friends.
---Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Boatwright of Atlanta at the Baptist Church of La Plata Thursday afternoon, July 10. Burial was in the La Plata cemetery.
