Alvin Wade HILLIS, who went by "Wade" because his father's name was Alvin Burton HILLIS... and also has a nephew named Alvin Eugene HILLIS... was the second child (of 14 surviving children) born to Alvin Burton HILLIS & Frieda Dorothy Mae FRIEBEL. He was the first of the children to pass, followed by his oldest brother, Henry, in 1999.
Wade was a Deaf Mute, who attended Austin State School for the Deaf. He met and married another Deaf Mute, Shirley Annice WEBB, on December 13,1958 in Rockwall,Texas. Together, they had one son, Paul, and two daughters, Marie & Rosa... who are not Deaf. His wife and children survived him. He lived in Rockwall, and the surrounding Dallas areas for many years, his wife's family being from the Rockwall area.
Wade earned his living working in a Paint & Body Shop, among other occupations at various times. One of his favorite foods was Potato Pancakes. I remember a time when I could not fry up enough fast enough to appease his appetite!
Wade was survived by brothers: Henry, Johney, Cullum, Joe, Bobby/Rodney, and Bennie. Also survived by sisters: Winona, Ruby, Neva, Iva, Lennie, Dorothy, and Minnie.
