Henry was the oldest child (of 14) born to Alvin Burton HILLIS & Frieda Dorothy Mae FRIEBEL... and the first grandchild born to immigrant Grandparents, Friedrich "Otto" FRIEBEL (from Apollensdorf, Wittenberg, Germany) and Minna "Minnie" NEUMAN/NEWMAN (from Marycocen, Lublin, Poland). Henry grew up out in West Texas, in the areas surrounding Roscoe and Sweetwater,Texas. He joined the Army in 1952, becoming a Marksman in the Korean Conflict. He eventually settled first in the Dallas, TX area... and later in the La Porte, TX area. In 1998-1999, He moved to Vidor, TX to be near his youngest sister. He was survived by a son, Henry Lee HILLIS Jr., and one daughter, Lillie Mae "Macey" (HILLIS) BRANNEN, and 2 grandchildren, Crystal Courtney HILLIS and Cody Lee HILLIS. He was also survived by his second wife, Lonita McADAMS HILLIS, 6 brothers, and 7 sisters, among other family members.
Henry married first, Nina Marie BAGGERMAN, April 1960, in Pampa, Gray County, Texas. They had 2 children together, and divorced June 1976. He married a second time, to Lonita McADAMS, Apr 1981 in Lake Charles, Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana, until both passed. They had no children together.
